About the pattern
Samhradh samhradh is Irish for “Summer summer”, the gorgeous season when meadows in Ireland are full of greenery and subtle bloom. The sample is knitted with yarn hand-dyed by Sophie Fontaine from Sionnach Yarns based in the Burren, Ireland. The Mohair is dyed with red onion skins.

Size
Finished dimensions of the sample, knitted using suggested yarn, are: wingspan 230 cm / 90.5 in and width at the widest point is 95 cm / 37 in. Your shawl can be enlarged by adding extra sections of either stripes or mohair.
Yarn
The pattern calls for two skeins of 4-ply/fingering weight yarn in contrasting colours and one skein of laceweight kid silk mohair. Speckled and variegated yarns would work really well for this project.
Allow at least 300 m / 328 yds for each yarn for the dimensions given.
The sample is knitted in hand-dyed Sionnach Yarns: 4-ply Fingering (75% merino - 25% nylon, 400 m / 437 yds per 100g skein) in Speckles and Turmeric; Kid Mohair (70% kid mohair - 30% mulberry silk, 420 m / 459 yds per 50g skein) in Red Onion.
Gauge
Measured over garter stitch after blocking, using fingering weight yarn is approximately 19 sts and 36 rows over 10 cm / 4 in.
